What AstralRoots is

AstralRoots is an Android app and this website. The app reads today's sky against your own birth chart and tells you, in plain words, what it means for your day, your work and the people in your life. The website carries a free birth chart calculator, a library of placements, sign pairs and moon rituals, and the sky today.

Who makes it

AstralRoots is made by D&D TechBros in Nairobi, Kenya. It is a small team, and the person who answers support@astralroots.app is the person who built it.

How charts are calculated

A chart is calculated from your exact birth date, time and place. Your birth time is turned into universal time through the time zone of your birthplace, and the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets for that moment come from astronomy-engine, an open ephemeris library. Chiron comes from a table of positions published by NASA's JPL Horizons service. Houses are Placidus, or Whole Sign where you were born above the polar circle, where Placidus houses cannot be drawn. The app and the calculator on this site run the same calculation, so they give the same chart.

On this website the calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you type into the calculator leaves it.

How the library is written

The placements, sign pairs and rituals in the library are reviewed line by line by the team before they go live, and every page is built from that reviewed text and from facts: the sign's element, its ruler, the dates the Sun is in it, the plain name of each house. Nothing on a page is written on the fly.

What the readings are, and are not

AstralRoots is for reflection and entertainment. Astrology is not a science, and nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice. The readings do not predict events, and they never tell you what to do about your health, your money or the law. Please make your decisions with your own judgement and, where it matters, with a qualified professional.
